AHA's

Alpha Hydroxy acid (AHA) or Fruit acids are used as exfoliant agents to help even skin tone and to reduce fine lines & wrinkles.

ALGAE EXTRACTS

Algae extract is a natural extract containing antioxidants which help fight signs of ageing. Algae extract also forms a protective layer on the skin and helps retain moisture.

ALGURNIC ACID

Alguronic acid is a mix of algae extracts claimed to have anti-aging benefits for the skin.

ALOE VERA

Aloe vera is a plant from the succulent family. Full of water and rich in vitamins, minerals and amino acids, it is known for the moisturizing properties of the gel extracted from its leaves.


AVOBENZONE

Avobenzone is a white crystalline powder that acts as an UV absorber. It is used either to protect the skin or cosmetic formulas from UV damages. Avobenzone is often used in conjunction with other sunscreen ingredients such as octocrylene.

BAICALIN

A flavonoid antioxidant derived from the roots of the baical skullcap plant, baicalin is a potent antioxidant with skin calming properties, shown to help protect skin from environmental aggressors.

BLUEBERRY EXTRACT

Blueberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) fruit extract is rich in vitamins with antioxidant properties. It helps maintain the skin in good condition.

CAFFEINE

Caffeine is a stimulant extracted from coffee during the process of decaffeination. Widely used in cosmetics, notably in facial and anti-cellulite creams, it is known to reduce the feeling of water retention. It is also an antioxidant.


CERAMIDES

Ceramides are waxy lipid molecules naturally present in the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of the skin, which play a key role in skin lipid barrier function. It helps restore the skin barrier, prevent loss of natural moisture, soften and soothe the skin.

CITRIC ACID

Found naturally in citrus fruits, this alpha-hydroxy acid helps promote cell turnover to exfoliate and smooth skin. Additionally, it is a stabilizer known to chelate metal ions naturally found in water helping the action of cleansers. Citric acid can also be used to adjust pH and/or to mask odours of other ingredients.

CUCUMBER EXTRACT

Cucumber (Cucumis sativus) fruit extract is used to maintain the skin in good condition. It contains vitamin C and amino acids, which are known to help nourish, hydrate, and soothe skin.

DILINOLEIC ACID

Dilinoleic acid/butanediol copolymer is used to form a continuous film over the skin.


DIOIC ACID

Octadecenedioic acid is obtained by bio-fermentation from vegetable oleic acid and is used in blemish correcting skincare products. It is known to modulate melanin synthesis. It is also antimicrobial and is known to soothe the skin.

DIPOTASSIUM GLYCYRRHIZATE

Dipotassium glycyrrhizate is known to avoid the water loss of both formula and skin.

ELLAGIC ACID

Ellagic acid helps reduce skin pigmentation disorders by limiting tyrosinase activity, inflammation and oxidation.

FERULIC ACID

Ferulic acid is an antioxidant widely found in plants. It is mainly used in serums and creams to protect the skin from ageing and sun-related damages.


GLYCERIN

Naturally-derived from plants, glycerin has similar properties to the physical ones of the skin. In products, it helps hydrate the skin by absorbing water from the surrounding environment.

GLYCOLIC ACID

Glycolic acid is naturally found in the lipids of some vegetables. It contributes to exfoliate and shed the skin’s outer surface. It can smoothen dry skin by peeling off its top layer.

HOMOSALATE

Homosalate is an oil-soluble, organic compound that belongs to a class of chemicals called salycilates. Homosalate absorbs UVB radiation, and is therefore used together with other photo-protective UV filters to provide protection from all sunrays.

HYALURONIC ACID

Hyaluronic acid is the body's natural hydrator, making it an excellent moisturizer. Applied to the skin, it forms a film that keeps water on the surface and thus slows down its evaporation. It improves the suppleness and softness of the skin.


HYDROXYETHYL UREA

Hydroxyethyl urea is often found in cosmetic products such as creams and lotions. It keeps the skin hydrated by helping it retain water. It is quickly absorbed and does not leave a shiny, sticky film on the skin.

HYDROXYETHYLPIPERAZINE ETHANE SULFONIC ACID

Hydroxyethylpiperazine ethane sulfonic acid is used in skincare products to help break down dead skin cells to provide exfoliation to the skin. It is also known to keep the pH level constant and maintain product quality.

HYDROXYPHENOXY PROPIONIC ACID

Hydroxyphenoxy propionic acid is a derivative of hydroquinone. It is known to inhibit skin coloration. It is used in skincare products to help reduce dark spots and tone heterogeneity.

KOJIC ACID

Naturally produced by certain fungi, kojic acid helps improve the appearance of discoloration and skin brightness.


KOMBUCHA

A byproduct of the tea fermentation process, this naturally derived ingredient is known to help promote smooth, radiant skin.

LACTIC ACID

Lactic acid is an organic acid from the AHA (alpha-hydroxy acid) family that is found naturally in milk, in certain fruits and vegetables (such as tomato or guava) and also in wine. It plays a role in various biochemical processes in the human body.

MARULA OIL

Marula (Sclerocarya birrea) seed oil is used to maintain the skin in good condition by preventing water loss. It can also be used to retain water in cosmetic formulas.

NIACINAMIDE

Niacinamide is also known as vitamin B3, and is a popular ingredient in skincare products but is also used in haircare products. Niacinamide help to protect and soothe the skin.


OCTISALATE

Also known as octyl salicylate, this oil-soluble, organic sunscreen ingredient is an UV filter used to protect both the skin and cosmetic products from UV damages.

OLIVE LEAF EXTRACT

Olea europaea leaf extract, or olive leaf extract, is derived from olive leaves. It is used to smooth and maintain the skin in good condition.

PEPTIDES

Peptides are compounds consisting of two or more linked amino acids (natural proteins). In topical skincare formulations, some peptides are shown to help provide anti-aging benefits.

PHYTIC ACID

Phytic acid is a natural acid found in many plant sources. It is known to chelate specific metal ions and prevent their activity. It is often used in skincare products for its strong antioxidant and protective effect.


PHYTOSPHINGOSINE

Phytosphingosine is a ceramide derivative used to keep skin in good condition. It helps reinforce skin barrier's function.

SALICYLIC ACID

Salicylic acid is a well known exfoliating agent. It is widely used to remove dead cells from skin surface to get a smoother, softer and more radiant skin. It can also help stabilize the pH of cosmetic products.

SQUALENE

Squalane is known to restore natural fat to dry skin and form a protective layer on it which locks in moisture and gives long-lasting hydration.

SULFONIC ACID (HEPES)

This synthetically derived acid activates natural enzymes in skin. It helps remove dead skin cells from skin surface for an even exfoliation.

TARTARIC ACID

Tartaric acid is a naturally occurring organic acid, which is known to be able to neutralise bases and keep the pH level constant. The ideal pH can be important for the stability of products. It is also known to mask the odor of other ingredients.


TITANIUM DIOXIDE

Titanium dioxide is a naturally occurring mineral which is known to have UV reflection properties. Tiny particles of the mineral are commonly used in sunscreens as they can help protect the skin from damages especially from UV rays.

TRANEXAMIC ACID

Tranexamic acid is a synthetic analog of the amino acid lysine. It is used in skincare products that target uneven skin tone.

VITAMIN B5

Also known as pantothenic acid this essential nutrient helps reinforce the skin barrier’s function.

VITAMIN C

Found naturally in fruits and vegetables, vitamin C is lauded for its powerful antioxidant benefits. In its pure form, it helps neutralize free radicals to protect against oxidative stress and provides visible anti-aging benefits. Suitable for all skin types.


VITAMIN E

Vitamin E, also known as alpha-tocopherol, is a fat-soluble vitamin, meaning that it mixes easily with oils and fats. Due to its antioxidant properties, vitamin E helps protect the formula from oxidation. It also reduces the action of free radicals caused by the sun's rays and the action of pollutants. Vitamin E therefore prevents premature ageing of the skin.

ZINC

Zinc oxide (ZnO) is a white powder known for its protective and purifying properties. It is also known as a UV protective filter, reflecting UVA and UVB rays. In addition, zinc has anti-inflammatory, astringent and drying properties.
