This is a first read from this author for me and wow what a book. This was so addictively good I could not put it down! Thank you TikTok!!!!!
The FMC Bridget hasn’t had an easy relationship with her mother, she was a cruel woman but she was still her mother. Or so she thought. At her funeral things start to unravel when secrets start to come to light. I really don’t want to give the plot away because it’s too a good a book to spoil anything.
The MMC Lonan thought he had lost one of his best friends. They made a pact when they were kids that they’d be together, until life was cruel and stole her away. 20+ years later they’ve been given a second chance and he won’t let her fear or trauma stop her being her own worse enemy.
I loved that when they were discussing the flashbacks to being childhood friends there wasn’t a huge age gap, only 1 year, too many times there’s an age gap which is fine when they’re adults but when they throw flashbacks as children and try to make out they had connects that were not so innocent it always reads so poorly, this was childhood firsts, growing up together, innocent and sweet
This was a hockey, 2nd chance romance with a punch. The drama from Bridget and her story was so intriguing and original, her relationship with her past and trying to figure out her future. I loved that she wasn’t shy when it came to her likes and kinks, so many times the women are always shown as needing to be taught by the man, she knew what she liked and wasn’t afraid to take it.
Lonan was everything swoon worthy in an MMC!
He was hot, sweet, funny and caring. He just wanted the best for her, even when that meant breaking his own heart to make sure she was ok.
I honestly loved this book, the writing and the story was by far one of the best books I’ve read and I can’t wait to read the rest of this series!
