This book was a freaking masterpiece, and now I am unashamedly obsessed with NikoBran. It was everything I hoped for, and more.
Both Brandon and Nikolai are complex, three-dimensional characters in this story, and their relationship dynamic is so different to the rest of the couples in the LOG series. Rina's women are always very passive, but Brandon is equally as possessive and obsessed with Nikolai. Bran was a completely different person with him, and I was surprised by how sweet and respectful Niko was towards him too, when he has always been portrayed as a violent brute.
I loved the push/pull they shared, and how amongst all of the angst there was tenderness and an actual connection forming between them. The spice was amazing, but there were also so many sweet domestic scenes that helped shape their relationship. Honestly, their chemistry is just off the charts in every conceivable way.
This book surprised me by actually being devastating as well. Mental illness is a huge theme throughout the story, and Rina didn't shy away from it. There are plenty of emotional scenes, not only with Bran and Niko, but also Bran's family. His relationship with Landon has always been rocky, but I loved where they ended up in this story, and I just love their dynamic in general.
Without rambling further, I just adored this book. For Rina's first ever MM, she completely knocked it out of the park, and I hope that she writes more in the future. I was sobbing mess at the end and I just want to go back and read it all over again because I can't move on from NikoBran.
