An engaging style of writing and an interesting storyline made for an enjoyable read. I will be adding later books in the series to my reading list.
But, there were some gaping plot holes such as Alex's "medical condition" referred to early on doesn't tie in with his club activities revealed later. Also, there were no satisfactory explanations for some of the bizarre operational decisions.
Overall a good read for British police procedural fans who aren't as pedantic as me.
