3 star barely plausible fiction, too much tragedy for me. McNeal's suffering is not easy reading as I think the state of anybody's mental health wouldn't be. Forbes character and his sudden knowledge of a death inducing drugs in a bathroom cabinet, realised while taking a pee, plus just having to have got past the Secret Service body search with Fentanyl in his wallet probably tipped my enjoyment and it was a scan read to the end for me. I've read most of JB's work because I like the escapism and the plots are generally left of field so I shouldn't be surprised that Long Way Home was the same really. Not a holiday read, and make sure you have something cheerful to follow wherever you read this.
