I bought this on a random whim and with the expectancy of its being another so-so, wannabe "free book", but it's actually been a riveting read despite a dodgy edit. Not everything is original but there's enough here to have hooked me on and reeled me in: there's what I expect to have been wryly observed military humour dotted about making for plausible characters and a detail of hardware description that suggests the author's having played a while on a two-way range? But descriptions are only adequate to fire the imagination: they don't drown you in unnecessary flowery paragraphs and there's pace at times, too - be careful about picking this up if you've only a couple of stops before your own...oh, and Rangers can't really fight?
