This was my first Mark Edwards book, but it definitely won't be the last. Matthew, having rekindled a college romance with Helena, is horrified when she falls over a cliff. Finding her hanging by the straps of her rucksack, she is convinced that she is going to die, and confesses that she killed her husband. When she tells Matthew the whole story, he agrees to keep her secret. Unfortunately, someone else has overheard her confession. The novel is about what happens to decent, ordinary people, when horror crashes into their lives. It's a story with unexpected twists and turns and an outcome that was unpredictable. I look forward to reading more by this author.
