Jake's mum has a head injury resulting in amnesia and the worst bit is that she cannot remember Jake, she has no maternal feelings toward him, in fact the only feeling she shows is hatred of the small boy. Jake thinks the woman who came home from hospital is not his mum and he thinks she is trying to kill him. The only person to believe him is Carly his father's ex mistress! This was thoroughly enjoyable book, I was on the edge of my seat as make and Carly tried desperately to work out what was going on and get the police to believe them. I'm not sure I would go as far as to describe it as a psychological thriller, but it was certainly a thoroughly good read. I will definitely read more by this author
