It's an adult book and should carry a warning on the front of some kind that it is 18+ and contains sexual violence of a graphic nature, or something similar. That aside, the intrigue is good, the red herring starts off as plausable but loses something along the way and becomes a predictable red herring. The first part of the book is very good, the middle is ok, and the ending is dreadful, and that is because it is hurried and out of sync with the rest of the book. It seems as though the writer has simply lost interest and wants to 'just get it finished' and is similar to the way kids may answer exam questions in that they spend a lot time building the picture, quite a long time telling the story, but then run out of time and give an abrupt and random ending in 2 sentences. I wouldn't recommend this book but it did interest me enough to wonder whether the author would have improved in other writings, and I have subsequently read 2 others by the same author. Unfortunately, poor endings seem to be a trait he has, and so unless you enjoy reading books that suddenly change direction completely and have very poor endings, I cannot recommend this author.
