I’ve read a number of Dean Koontz’s books. He and James Herbert are probably my second and third most read horror novelists, so it’s fair to say I enjoy reading him.

This said, this book is a bit daft. In it, a shadowy cabal decide to do down someone, because of his unending supply of optimism, and positivity. To prevent this from being acted on, he and his friends decide to do something.

This is perfectly fine, as a story. The problem is it’s written as a comedy, rather than a thriller, or horror story, so I spent most of time thinking “What the heck am I reading?”

The story is fine, it’s just I was left feeling bemused. It’s enjoyable enough, but it might not be for everyone.
